Using a Dye to Detect Oil Leaks

When adding a dye to oil to help detect leaks, be sure that the dye is an oil soluble dye.

When to Lubricate with Grease

Here is one of several reasons to select grease as a lubricant from the "Lubricating Grease Guide":

To decrease dripping and spattering of lubricant. Greases assist seals. Thus, grease tends to stay in its housing and not leak or drip out. This is particularly true as seals become worn. The effect on housekeeping is obvious. In processing foods, pharmaceuticals, or other products for which contamination must be avoided, grease minimizes problems.
