Transitioning to a New Lube Supplier
Hack Hensley, Predictive Maintenance (Oil Analysis),
Mitsubishi Polyester Film, LLC
Our company recently went through this same challenge. We went
from supplier A to supplier B. Supplier B has a Lubrication Engineer
working for them. His job is to work with customers through any
lubrication problems. Not all suppliers offer this service.
Before you switch to a new supplier, you should ask if they have
a qualified lubrication person that can help work through any
problems that might arise. Be sure that your company is not charged
extra for this service.
During the transition we had a few problems and they were quick
to respond. There is a lot of lubricant suppliers around. Don't
be afraid to ask questions and pick the one that's most beneficial
for your company.
At no extra charge they came in at our request when we had down
time, took pictures of the gears on the inside of a few critical
reducers. Checked for wear and will come back later and compare
to see if there is any excessive wear.
