Transitioning to a New Lube Supplier
Scott Golomb, Lubrication & Vibration Tech.,

Since Supplier A is out, I would contact supplier B, Find out
what lubricants he would be able to match. Items we already use.
Supplier B should be able to match my lubricants, and if he can't,
would he be able to get those items I would need to keep the lubricants
on my shelves.
It would be the suppliers responsibility to provide me with
what I need, not what he has. If he can't I would look toward
supplier C,D, or E. It would make more sense and take less time
to find a supplier who could fill our needs than to switch all
our lubricants in all the equipment to something new.
There are many other factors besides just changing oil. The costs
the shipping, distances, and availability all work in this problem.
The hopes that management would contact the plants lube expert
on the change of suppliers would be the first realistic step before
just changing the suppliers on a whim. Communication, coordination,
this is the smart way to change suppliers.
If someone changed my supplier without
my knowledge.................BIG TROUBLE.
