Selecting Machines for Oil Analysis
Roger Earley, Maintenance Specialist, Lubrizol
Corp.
I would categorize the equipment. Do I have a back up piece
of equipment if there is a failure? Are the replacement parts
easily accessible? Will the down time be minimal? Can I do with
out this piece of equipment for a while, or will it hurt my operations?
If this piece of equipment fails, is it the life support of the
company? Like blood is to the human for survival. This would determine
the frequency that the oil analysis is done. And on some equipment
could we get by with just doing Vibration Analysis, and or Ultrasonic
Testing.
