Oil Analysis Without Particle Counting?

David Davies, Maintenance Supervisor, Orica

In the first instance I would send samples to another Lab for verification. Suggest another method of testing ie [Pore blockage] as optical is not necessarily suitable on all applications. Given the fact that the equipment is "Critical" and the cost of the test is negligible [Repair/Down time] and that system problems can arise at any time, I would continue to do the tests on a regular basis with the idea of extending the test intervals once other test methods and 3rd party lab prove the cleanliness levels.
