Is Turbine Flush Justified?

Spencer Anderson, PDM Tech, TLNA A.E. Staley

My recommendations would be the same as the Plant Maintenance. The total system needs to flushed thoroughly and also All lines removed, blown out with air, and cleaned. It would also be a good idea to remove the top bearing caps and inspect For any Babbitt wear. If this is wet lubrication system for the bearings, make sure all piping going to and from the bearings Are secure.

With a few more weeks remaining in the shutdown, this should be more than enough time to thoroughly flush And clean the systems before start-up.
